Salem, MA

Salem, MA

I've always wanted to go here, since I read the Crucible, the Salem Witch Trials, etc.
So the history nerd in me was beyond stoked.

Learned some new things at this "museum", but it's not really a museum and unfortunately, not worth the cost of admission. Suckas....

This place has a magical and familiar quality to it, that is most similar to New Orleans, though not nearly as intense, emotionally.  You can immediately tell that there is a heavy spiritual influence in this town, as in its surroundings.  Its history definitely reflects this as well.

We made our way into a botanical shop... amazing.

Lake Winnipesaukee, NH: Island life

I remember being offered a position to this Camp, and being told that part of this job would require that I live and work on an island.  An Island? Yup.  An island in the middle of Lake Winnipesaukee. It is officially named Black Island.

The camp itself is split up into two portions.  The Mainland, taking care of the younger kids, and the Island, taking care of the 13-15 year olds.  The atmosphere on the Island is drastically different from the Mainland, as in it is more relaxed, casual, and flexible.

This is our means of connecting with the real world.  The Winaukee Cruiser, and constantly calling for a boat driver.

The most unfortunate thing though, is that even through the "One Camp" preaching, the mainland and island leadership seem to be at odds with one another. The Island emphasizes a sense of social and individual responsibility, a "Tree of Values", and Carpe Diem, and I really wish both the Island and Mainland could collaborate together, but I don't see that happening.

Camp: West Coast to East Coast

Found a moose toy from last year, so I decided to take him with me.

Here we are in Santa Ana, CA at the John Wayne Airport.

Just waiting....

And here we are having a drink in the Dallas Fort Worth Airport.  Tejas.

And here, we caught the score to the Kings game, then ran to our next stop at Chicago O'Hare Airport.

Then finally, here we are in Boston, at 1am Eastern Time.... Just waiting for my bags, and praying they all made it through.
